Satanic abusers hunting in packs
Something from the 17th century? No, the latest from Irish child rights organization Cari, Children at risk in Ireland, whose logo is a teddy bear. Before its March 2005 conference, its spokesperson, Alan Corbett, is quoted in the local media as follows: Devil-worshipping perverts are abusing children in sick sex rituals across Ireland, traumatised therapists on CARI's help line received several shocking calls from victims of the devil-worshiping paedophiles, who sacrifice animals to Satan as they threaten victims with violence and death, and believe that what they are doing is sanctioned by the devil.
There was no mention of the fact that satanic ritual abuse has been debunked for many years now worldwide.
Corbett is reported as adding that the satanic abuse was ‘a growing problem’ and it was time for the public ‘to address these horrific crimes’. He said people who worship the devil hunt in packs, luring victims to secret hideaways and subjecting them to terrifying ordeals in the name of Satan. Worse, toddlers as young as two are being abused.
When asked for details of victims, however, he replied that most of the terrified callers refused to reveal their names or details of where the abuse took place ‘for fear of retribution from the evil gangs’. They must indeed be terrified if the very Cari therapists they talk with also ‘become traumatised’.
He explained further: "It sounds like something from a movie, but rituals and the reciting of Satanic verse all seem to form part of the paraphernalia of this kind of abuse. These kinds of dreadful crimes can only be perpetrated by abusers who have quite an unusual system of belief. There is every chance that the people involved have normal jobs and lead normal lives outside of the crimes." An unusual system of belief?
The March 2005 conference discussed this problem, but no news of solutions has emerged. Perhaps it was a movie after all.
